Are you positive that access to your buildings complies with all of the current legislation?

image representing restricted accessibilty

From 1st October 2004 specific sections of the Disability Discrimination Act 1995 relating to the provision for disabled people to gain access to and use a building come into force. These new regulations require service providers to make "reasonable adjustments" in relation to the physical features of their premises to overcome physical barriers to access.

There have also been important changes to Building Regulations. These make provision for the "reasonable adjustment" of physical features which make it impossible or unreasonably difficult for disabled people to make use of any service which is offered to the public.

The new regulations advise that the "reasonable steps" taken to overcome these physical features should include:

  • removal of the feature
  • alteration of the feature so that it no longer has that effect
  • provision of a reasonable means of avoiding the feature
  • provision of a reasonable alternative method of making the service available to disabled people.

Magma Safety Products manufacture a wide variety of heavy duty anti-slip flooring products which ensure that access to your premises complies with the stringent requirements of the new legislation.

We over 15 years experience of working with large organisations such as Railtrack, London Underground, Local Authorities, Schools, Hospitals and Military Establishments we can provide you with a product which will answer your requirements and will ensure that you comply with the new regulations. See below for details of our range of products and how they will help you to make your premises more accessible.
